Deming Public Schools has announced the cancellation of the Baccalaureate Ceremony originally scheduled for Sunday, May 18. Due to the forecasted high winds and in the interest of safety for students, families, and community members, the event has been canceled. It will not be rescheduled due to the number of other end-of-year events already planned. We understand this may be disappointing, but the decision was made with everyone’s safety in mind and to avoid further scheduling conflicts. Deming Public Schools has announced a change in the date for the annual Scholarship Night event, originally scheduled for Monday, May 19, at 6:30 PM. Due to the potential for school closure on May 19 caused by forecasted high winds, Scholarship Night has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 22, at 6:30 PM. The event will still take place at the Deming Public Schools Auditorium. This decision was made in the interest of safety and to provide our students, families, and community members with a clear and confirmed date. By proactively rescheduling, we aim to avoid any last-minute disruptions and ensure a meaningful and well-attended celebration of our students’ academic achievements. We appreciate the community’s understanding and flexibility, and we look forward to recognizing our outstanding scholarship recipients on the new date. Deming Public Schools announced today that Mimbres Valley High School (MVHS) will transition into the Mimbres Valley Program (MVP), a dedicated program housed within Deming High School (DHS), effective for the 2025-2026 school year. Following this transition, MVHS will no longer operate as a separate school site.

Existing (current K-11 students) student registration for the 25-26 school year will reopen on May 19th through May 30th. If a parent/guardian did not submit an existing student application via the Campus Parent portal, parents/guardians will need to submit their application during this time. A “New” student application should NOT be submitted, if the student is currently enrolled and returning next school year. If you submitted a new student application, your child’s school will reach out to you and ask you to submit an existing student application.

New student online registration opens, Thursday, May 1, 2025, for PreK, Kinder, and new students to the district. The registration website link is available on the Deming Public Schools website www.demingps.org , under Registration or existing DPS parents can register new students through their Campus Parent portal. We encourage families to look at the site to become acquainted with the required information and documents needed to complete online registration successfully. All NEW elementary students are required to register at their boundary school, based on the student’s current address. Please visit www.demingps.org and choose “Registration” at the top, select “Find My School” on the left-hand links to determine your boundary school.

The Special Education Department of Deming Public Schools is announcing the discarding of Special Education Records. Special Education records may be destroyed five (5) years after graduation, or five years after students have exited from Special Education Services in compliance with FERPA regulations. Parents and/ or former Special Education students, who received Special Education Services on/ or before May 2020, may obtain their Special Education records by contacting Ruth Andujo at the Special Education Office by May 2, 2025. Call Ruth at 575-546-0427 Ext 1030 to set up an appointment to obtain these records. Destruction of records is scheduled to begin June 2, 2025.

Jaynes Construction is starting construction work for the My Little School Addition and Renovation Project. During this time there will be increased traffic in the areas of Buckeye, Iron, and Olive Streets. School Bus drop off and pick up area will be unchanged during the project. Please observe all safety signage and exercise caution. There will be heavy equipment and increased traffic in the area. The project is scheduled to be complete by June 30, 2025.
